159.0 this morning. Bother. Because it's not likely water at this point. Restaurants, more likely; we've been eating out a lot. Here's yesterday:
- tea with cream
- the usual supplements
- scrambled eggs with ham and cheese
- a pork sausage patty
- trail mix (cashews, almonds, peanuts, M&Ms)
- cheese
- chicken with cream sauce including ham, tomatoes, and mushrooms
- fried potatoes (not many)
- black-eyed peas with sausage and peppers (not many)
I think that was it. The trail mix is done, now. I think I need to get back into avoiding lunch, or just having something small and low-carb. And dining at home, on cleaner food.
And getting some walking in. We haven't quite managed that yet. But soon.
How rejecting Conventional Wisdom on nutrition led my 3-person family to lose the equivalent of a 4th person (in weight).

Monday
We ate reasonably well on the road. Turns out that a Sonic drive-in is the perfect solution to road-trip-with-dogs in a hot climate (where you can't leave the dog in the car alone). For eating anyway. I was able to sit in their little slot and peel the burger bits off the bun. But I also ate the fries. And cashew-almond-M&M trail mix. Had a chicken salad with apples and cranberries for dinner (Whattaburger) - not at all bad!
Sleep the last 2 nights has been less than perfect, but I guess not awful; I woke up both nights with one of the lower back aches that feels like sheer exhaustion, and last night, stayed awake for a while trying to figure out why, if I was so damned tired, I couldn't fall back asleep. Finally took some aspirin, and I think, once it took effect, got back to sleep.
158.6 this morning; I guess that's not a complete surprise. Here's yesterday:
- a Clif bar (my sister's idea of healthy food does not match mine, but the La Quinta's breakfast failed both of us, and she had brought Clif bars for car snacks and I was hungry)
- chips and salsa
- "pollo con queso" at the local tex-mex joint (not wholly un-Primal, but I had chips)
- hamburger patty
- salad with blue cheese dressing
- a single-serve Haagen-Dasz strawberry ice cream
That was it. And this morning, we are trying to get ourselves back on track. The plan tonight is to have the other 2 burger patties (Lee cooked 4) with sauteed mushrooms in a Stroganoff type sauce. And more salad. And probably go grocery shopping after, for some other meat so we can keep cooking here.

Friday
Good sleep, less pain, weight down this morning. 157.8, and I don't think I'm done with the water just yet.
Here's yesterday:
- tea with cream
- the usual supplements
- cheese
- grapes (which I forgot to list yesterday)
- giant hunk of Red Snapper with crawfish, shrimp, mushrooms and butter sauce (I think the fish was lightly breaded, but I tried to eat around it)
- green beans in the same butter sauce
That was it. Really good dinner; that butter sauce was to die for. I think I may become a seafood eater after all.
We did less work yesterday; my contribution was getting beds made and installing the second of our thermostats. The house is organized enough for the dogs, and that was the main goal for this week.
Flying to Denver this afternoon; driving back tomorrow. Should be fun - I hope!

Thursday
The aches and pains won last night; I woke up at 3:15ish, became alert enough to wonder if we'd left groceries out of the fridge all night, and got up to check. Promptly walked into the bedframe with my left leg (this is actually fairly common for me). I took aspirin at the time, but it never quite worked, so that's when I woke up this morning. At least I don't have to commute.
159.0. Still stiff and sore; if I have enough presence of mind, I'll have to check my weight on my parents' scale on Saturday morning before heading back here. Here's yesterday:
- tea with cream
- the usual supplements
- scrambled eggs
- bacon
- 3 slices of cheese
- chef's salad (ham and turkey and cheese) with blue cheese dressing
- an Aunt Sally's praline
I was slightly starving between 3:15 and breakfast today; I'm a little hungry today as well. Yesterday was another active day, too - beat the FuelBand goal again. I imagine I have quite the streak going at the moment.
Life is starting to settle down. For one, we had dinner at a reasonable hour, at home, before running errands last night. That's a first in a while. And I think we will be doing it again tonight. Maybe without the errands - maybe watching TV instead. Which would be nice. I got all of the deadbolt locksets replaced yesterday; some of them were pretty broken, as it turned out, so we have now improved the property.
We had a discovery yesterday, too - well, Lee discovered it the day before, and I had a look yesterday. We have citrus trees in the back yard already. Not sure what, yet, because they aren't ripe, but I think either a lemon or a lime, and an orange, based on the shape of the fruit (of which there is rather a lot). So that's pretty exciting, and saves me the hassle of research and planting and waiting for fruit.

Wednesday
Is it a good thing that this seems like a long week? If nothing else, that provides (perceived) lots of time to get things done. And we are making progress. We have a working living room, and the kitchen is starting to be usable. This in addition to 2 usable (after a bit of tidying) guest bedrooms, and the master suite, which was the first priority.
Slept like a tidy, stable, pile of rocks last night - 10-6:30. Which happens to be 9-5:30 Denver time. Go figure. I suspect we will start shifting backwards once things settle down a little. Although, what with working for a Denver office, it may be to our advantage to skew late for a while yet.
159.2 this morning. Very stiff and swollen. The backs of my knees are particularly nasty. Here's yesterday:
- tea with cream
- several slices of swiss cheese
- almonds
- a McDonald's chicken salad with balsamic vinaigrette
- broccoli cheese soup
- pot roast with gravy
I'm pretty sure that was it; there's not a lot of easy food in the house (lots of ingredients), so I didn't do much snacking. That will have changed today; we went grocery shopping again last night (Sam's this time, since Costco isn't exactly next door), and stocked up on things like blocks of cheese.
I think I may be able to make salad dressing today, and maybe we can eat at home tonight.

Tuesday
Oh, how I have missed my bed. With the assistance of a Benadryl, I slept from 10 to about 6:30. Woke once, somewhere around 4, I think. I feel rested, but not fabulous, due to aches and pains from the work yesterday.
Another day of beating the FuelBand. I don't recall how many points I amassed, but it was a lot. Still not a lot of steps counted - for whatever reason, it counts on the low side. I unpacked a bunch of boxes of books - that's on the plan for today as well - and ran up and down stairs a huge amount. Tho' not nearly as much as the movers, who were awesome.
Yesterday was fairly burger-and-fries centric. I don't know if today will be as well; it would be lovely if we could get to the point of being able to cook today. I think it looked like this:
- tea (slept at a hotel that didn't use real cream)
- scrambled eggs with cheese and salsa
- cream cheese
- quarter pounder with cheese, no bun
- fries
- double cheeseburger, no bun (big patties; I don't know how much meat it was)
- fries with ketchup
I think that was it. Which might explain why I'm suddenly hungry this morning. The aches and pains explain the 159.0 reading on the scale.
More of the same today.

Monday
We have moved. Officially. I'm sitting at the built-in desk of what will be our home office, with a bunch of stuff, but connectivity.
Since we slept last night at a hotel (no beds yet), I have no idea what I weigh. Sleep itself was good until the Advil wore off - we did a lot of box-humping and unpacking last night, and I can feel it. More than met my FuelBand goal.
Routine should start to set in tonight, I hope. Although for a while, "routine" will look a lot like "unpacking".
